Cultivars
KODIAK Orange
Diervilla 'G2X88544'
Eco-friendly alternative to burning bush! Kodiak ® Orange diervilla pushes fall color to the limits with its transformation to glowing orange. New growth emerges a showy russet, accompanied by bright yellow flowers in summer. This fast growing, vigorous North American native is unbothered by pests or diseases. Sometimes known as bush honeysuckle, which is a bit of a misnomer, so we prefer using diervilla as the common name.
Kodiak Green
Diervilla 'SMNDSA'
A new, unique addition to the Kodiak® series of diervilla, Kodiak® Green diervilla brings fresh two-toned green foliage and a different texture and habit to the series. The new foliage is a lighter green, which contrasts wonderfully against the older, dark green leaves and makes a great foliage filler in cut flower arrangements. This native Diervilla × splendens is a strong, showy summer bloomer, and the abundant yellow flowers are adored by butterflies and native bees. The unique texture and habit make this diervilla ideally suited for mass plantings in larger landscape projects, and wildlife or pollinator gardens.
KODIAK Red 2.0
Diervilla 'SMNDSD'
Redder is better! That's why we are pleased to introduce Kodiak Red 2.0 diervilla ( D . × splendens ), which replaces the original Kodiak Red, as it offers much brighter, more intense red foliage that holds better through the season. This is as true under poly in production as it is in the landscape, making it a boon for everyone in the supply chain. Yellow flowers appear all summer and appeal to a variety of pollinators, especially native bumblebees.
Kodiak Spiced
Diervilla 'SMNDSF'
Better and bolder is the goal when developing new selections for the Proven Winners ColorChoice Kodiak® series of North American native diervilla, and Kodiak Spiced diervilla hits these two marks head-on. With a delectable blend of deep orange shades evocative of warm spices painting the foliage and the contrast of bright yellow summer flowers, this shrub creates a deliciously cozy look in the garden and landscape. It’s tough, adaptable, hardy, and as easy to grow as it is to use in the landscape or garden.
Kodiak Jet Black
Diervilla 'SMNDSN'
You’ve never seen anything like this before! Kodiak Jet Black® diervilla is the world’s first black Diervilla that stays jet black all season long. While other diervilla tend to fade in summer, this shrub maintains its deep, striking black foliage, which creates quite the contrast with its bright yellow summer flowers. This unique look is sure to catch the eyes of passersby and pollinators in the garden and landscape. With a foliage display this amazing, you’ll want to bring it inside, and you should, because it works great as a foliage filler in cut flower arrangements!
Kodiak Fresh
Diervilla 'SMNDSS'
Freshen up the landscape with Kodiak Fresh diervilla! This fast-growing, easy-care diervilla brings bright and lively color to the garden with new growth that emerges in tones of orange and red then matures to chartreuse. Yellow flowers pepper the plant all summer long, attracting pollinators. Ideal for low-maintenance hedges, as well as incorporating into pollinator and native plant gardens; even traditional perennial and flower gardens will find a place for its neat foliage and clean color.
