Dicentra 'Bacchanal', or Pacific bleeding heart, is a spreading rhizomatous perennial known for its finely divided gray-green foliage and nodding, heart-shaped deep crimson flowers. Blooming from late spring to early summer, it thrives in part shade and moist, well-drained soil, making it ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and ground cover. Unlike common bleeding hearts, it does not go dormant in midsummer if soil moisture is maintained. Deer and rabbit resistant, it adds long-lasting texture and color to shaded landscapes.
